Tile Making and Hand Building * Thursdays Feb 1st - Mar 7th 6:30pm to 9pm

In this five week course we will explore adding texture in clay then shaping and/or assembling pieces to create special pieces. Starting from a slab of clay, we will make unique tiles, shallow trays, and a myriad of other textured projects. Using translucent glazes we will show you how to accentuate your unique surfaces. Your interests will guide your pieces and we will advise you, and help you create your best projects. Possible projects include: making textured hotplates, tiles, coasters, low trays and picture frames. We will create silhouette image tiles from drawings or your photographs (see images) We have a variety of textured rollers for you to use and to create extraordinary results. All clay, glaze and firing will be included. More advanced projects include cutting tiles into smaller shapes to create cut tile mosaics, fusing architectural chunks in your clay tile to erecting a city or land structure, among many other possibilities.
