Collage Process - Denise DeLong

Collage Holiday Cards and Collage Prints from DeLong Press are a whimsical collection of artworks created by Denise DeLong. Card designs range in subject matter including New York City scenes and other holiday motifs delivering tidings of Season Greetings, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. The collection of Collage Prints draws its inspiration from New York City imagery as well other delightful locations. Denise works from photos and sketches to develop energetic yet balanced compositions. Using colorful translucent vellum, vibrant color gels, papers, thread, etc., she skillfully creates charming scenes allowing the nature of the materials to complete their mood. Once completed, cards and collages are printed using an extremely high-quality off-set method. Because of this, colors are very vibrant and the subtle highlights and shadows of the collage layering come out. After the printing, a delicate gloss pattern is applied to the cards accentuating specific parts of the design. With all this attention to detail, finished cards and collages have a remarkable rich resemblance to the original artwork. Viewers often remark they “can’t believe it isn’t the real collage.”
